Dr. Gargi Mukherji is Professor and Director of Clinical Simulation at UTHealth Houston School of Dentistry. Upon graduation from her general practice residency, she worked in private practice for 10 years prior to joining academia and pursuing her passion for teaching. She also has been active in seeing patients throughout the community as part of UT Dentists extramural faculty practice. Her specialty interests include the treatment of medically compromised patients. Dr. Mukherji has been a past recipient of the Dean’s Excellence Award for Teaching and Innovation and the Dean’s Excellence Award in Mentoring. She along with her colleague Dr. Ralph Cooley are inventors of “Airway Armor” – a safety device to help prevent accidental aspiration of foreign objects in the oral cavity.
